Security Officer - Trafford Centre

Purpose of the Role
The Security Officer works in collaboration with Security team members to support and deliver the security services within the Trafford Centre. You are responsible for the day-to-day delivery of security and safety supporting operational delivery at The Trafford Centre. Always presenting a professional, friendly image.
You will ensure exemplary standards of security are provided to the client and visitors to the site always. You are the public face of the security team and should act with professionalism always, a can-do attitude is essential in this highly influential role.
You will have the ability to work both individually and within a team. You will be capable of carrying out your duties without constant supervision and be proactive in ensuring your area of responsibility meets the highest possible standards of security and safety. You should have excellent attention to detail, high standards and a desire to do your job to the best of your abilities. Able to articulate clearly and credibly with the client, senior managers and all staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Patrol and Compliance: Conduct regular patrols and ensure compliance with security procedures, centre processes, and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe environment. Ensuring that you have all your issued equipment with you. Including your SIA licences and ID cards with you.
- Customer Engagement and Incident Response: Provide courteous assistance to visitors, handle security issues promptly, and manage incidents in line with company policies. Proactively interact and engage with visitors, offering support while being able to interpret customers’ needs and deliver meaningful advice through courteous communication skills. Ensuring that the centre is presented in the best possible way and that any defects are reported and resolved quickly and efficiently through the relevant platform.
- Surveillance and Vigilance: Monitor and report suspicious behaviour, unauthorized access, and any issues impacting security. Maintain vigilance whilst highlighting and managing unauthorised access by banned persons.
- Emergency Preparedness and Communication: Respond effectively to emergencies, maintain radio communications, and keep accurate records in the relevant platform. Employ intelligent understanding of human behaviour, monitoring and surveillance of suspect individuals including logging and reporting incidents in line with company and centre polices.
- Event Support and Contractor Assistance: Support centre events and initiatives by advising customers of upcoming activity and events in the centre. Help third party contractors / visitors ensuring all company and centre procedures / policies are adhered too.

- Uphold and Maintain High Service Standards: Meet performance standards by taking pride in the Centre and maintaining its quality in all tasks. Including proactive security inspection and patrols
- Proactively Assist Customers: Take initiative in helping visitors and suggesting improvements to enhance customer service.
- Professionalism and Flexibility: Maintain a good standard of personal appearance and remain flexible with shift assignments and support management with reasonable requests as needed.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- The ability to deliver strong verbal and written communication with the capacity to handle sensitive situations tactfully, confidently, and credibly.
- Demonstrating commitment to the values of integrity, vigilance, and helpfulness, with keen attention to detail.
- The capability to work and complete tasks independently with self-motivation, adaptability, and able to manage changing priorities, using time effectively.
- The aptitude to stay composed in high-pressure situations with a problem-solving approach.
- With a friendly, approachable, and supportive manner, with excellent customer service skills and a team-oriented mindset
Qualifications and experience:
Essential:
- 5-year checkable employment record under DBS.
- Front Line SIA licence.
- Experience of working in a customer focused environment.
- First aid qualified or willing to work towards higher qualification.
Desirable:
- Professional or further qualifications in security.
Working Hours - 0730-1930 / 1000-2200 & 1200-0000
