Purpose of the Role
Lakeside Shopping Centre, situated in the heart of West Thurrock, Essex, is recognised as one of the region’s premier shopping and entertainment destinations, providing an exceptional experience for visitors of all ages. Home to more than 250 retail stores showcasing a wide range of brands, alongside diverse dining options and a variety of entertainment venues, it offers the ultimate experience in shopping, dining, and leisure.
Through regular events, promotions, and a strong commitment to outstanding customer service, Lakeside Shopping Centre remains a vibrant hub for both local residents and visitors from further afield.
To support the Centre Management team and Head of Marketing in delivering Lakeside’s marketing, digital, and community strategy. The role combines event management, digital content, and community/CSR engagement to ensure Lakeside continues to thrive as a retail and leisure destination.
The Senior Marketing & Community Executive will play a key role in ensuring campaigns are engaging, community-focused, and commercially effective, supporting the Head of Marketing in brand positioning, customer experience, and stakeholder engagement.
To foster and develop long-term community relations and support between the centre and our respective local/regional communities, in line with Lakeside’s corporate responsibility strategy and the strategy of the Savills Group.
Key Outcomes
- Seamless delivery of the Head of Marketing’s strategy, alongside managing the PR and Marketing agency’s delivery, with a clear focus on digital, events, and community engagement.
- High-quality digital presence across all channels, consistent with brand guidelines.
- Tangible, target audience focused in-centre experiences that drive footfall and sales linking back to the marketing strategy
- Strong community partnerships and measurable CSR outcomes.
Regular reporting that demonstrates ROI, budget control, and community impact.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Digital
- Work closely with the Head of Marketing to implement the centre’s annual marketing business plan.
- Deliver the centre’s digital marketing strategy across social media, website, database/CRM, and in-centre digital screens.
- Curate and publish engaging content from retailers, commercialisation partners, and community initiatives in line with target audiences.
- Manage retailer communications, brand promotions, and digital content opportunities.
- Produce monthly reports on digital performance, engagement, and ROI for review with the Head of Marketing against annual centre marketing objectives.
- Support the Head of Marketing in creating marketing assets and collateral for campaigns, commercialisation, and CSR initiatives.
- Monitor marketing budgets, raise Purchase Orders and provide updates for discussion with the Head of Marketing.
Community & CSR
- Deliver the centre’s Community/ESG programme, reporting directly into the Head of Marketing and working alongside the Savills ESG team.
- Build strong links with schools, colleges, and community groups through visits, presentations, and collaborative projects.
- Manage the centre’s staff volunteering programme, tracking and reporting activity.
- Support the Head of Marketing in chairing/ coordinating charity and CSR initiatives, ensuring alignment with the corporate responsibility strategy.
- Foster partnerships with local organisations and networks (e.g., Chamber of Commerce, local festivals, charities).
- Prepare and report on community budgets and CSR achievements.
Events & Activations
- Support the Head of Marketing in planning and delivering an annual calendar of in-centre events and activations.
- Manage seasonal campaigns (Easter, Halloween, Christmas, summer holidays) with a focus on family-friendly and community-led experiences.
- Act as the on-site lead during events, coordinating with agencies, suppliers, and centre management.
- Work with commercialisation partners to integrate brand activations, pop-ups, and experiential elements into the wider programme.
- Provide support with crisis communications and customer engagement where required.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Essential:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in marketing, digital, or community management.
- Proven track record of delivering events and campaigns from concept through to completion.
- Strong knowledge of digital marketing (social media, website CMS, CRM).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with ability to handle multiple projects.
- Budget management and reporting experience.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
Desirable:
- Industry-recognised marketing qualification (CIM or equivalent).
- Experience in retail, leisure, hospitality, or destination marketing.
- Knowledge of Lakeside’s local community and customer base.
- Familiarity with creative tools (Canva, Adobe Suite) and social scheduling platforms.
