Security Supervisor - Queensgate Shopping Centre

Purpose of the Role
The purpose of a Security Supervisor is to oversee the shopping centre security team, providing leadership, guidance, and constructive feedback to colleagues. The role includes supporting and developing team members through coaching and on-the-job training, while promoting a strong health and safety culture throughout the site. The Security Supervisor reports to the Operations Manager and may be required to liaise with retailers, contractors, and other stakeholders as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out all allocated security duties as per the site’s Assignment Instructions, ensuring that:
- Support vulnerable persons on site and ensure any safeguarding concerns are reported in line with policy.
- Regular patrols of the Centre and Car Park are completed in line with the site’s patrol log, and any hazards identified are addressed or escalated immediately.
- Delegate responsibilities effectively, ensuring tasks are assigned based on capability, development needs, and operational priorities.
- Promote a diverse and inclusive working environment where all colleagues feel respected, supported, and valued.
- Undertake routine welfare checks to ensure colleagues receive appropriate support, guidance, and escalation when required.
- Support the team in achieving and maintaining a 95% mystery shop score through coaching, leading by example, and upholding service standards.
- Work proactively to secure strong occupier survey results by providing timely support, clear communication, and a high standard of service delivery.
- Follow instructions from the Management Team in a timely manner, prioritising the safety and welfare of the public at all times.
- Support training and onboarding of new security staff, ensuring standards and procedures are understood and followed.
- Support and assist colleagues and management where appropriate, offering guidance and leadership when required.
- Conduct regular checks to ensure fire doors are secure and escape routes remain clear of obstructions, escalating issues promptly.
- Manage emergency situations and evacuations effectively, acting as a point of contact for occupiers and emergency services to support compliance with legal and safety requirements, including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order.
- Ensure all incidents are accurately recorded on OverC, and any accidents are documented using the correct reporting procedures.
- Ensure all lock-up and open-up procedures are completed accurately, including securing entrances, checking alarms, and confirming the building is safe for trading.
- Escalate any identified hazards, risks, or maintenance issues to line management immediately to ensure prompt resolution.
- Ensure contractors adhere to company and site Health & Safety procedures, including contractor management processes.
- Maintain the Centre and Car Park as safe, clean, and welcoming environments by responding promptly to incidents, hazards, obstructions, litter, spillages, or any situation affecting safety and presentation standards.
- Support audits, compliance checks, and site inspections as required (H&S, fire, security, and service standards).
- Maintain effective communication with local police, residents, authorities, and neighbouring businesses to ensure proactive and collaborative security management.
- Provide an excellent level of customer service to all visitors, occupiers, and colleagues, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Ensure professional use of radio communications and control procedures at all times.
- Contribute to the Centre’s environmental and sustainability goals by adhering to and promoting environmentally responsible practices.
- Ensure effective shift handovers and accurate reporting to maintain continuity of information and site awareness.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Must hold a valid SIA Door Supervisor licence
- Advantageous: SIA CCTV (Public Space Surveillance) licence
- Must be computer literate
- Experience liaising with authorities is beneficial
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Working Hours - 42 hours average per week
Salary - £14.67/hr
