Purpose of the Role
To lead, develop, and oversee the delivery of the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy at 20 Fenchurch Street. This role will ensure that the building’s operations align with both landlord, customer and business ESG objectives, driving sustainable practices and reporting on performance.
To manage and implement the ESG agenda for 20 Fenchurch Street, ensuring alignment with broader corporate and client ESG strategies. The ESG Manager will work closely with property management, central ESG teams, and key stakeholders to achieve measurable improvements in sustainability, social responsibility, and governance performance.
Reports to: Head of Engineering
Key Responsibilities
Sustainability Leadership:
- Develop and drive the ESG strategy for 20 Fenchurch Street, ensuring alignment with business and client sustainability goals.
- Implement initiatives to reduce environmental impact, enhance social responsibility, and strengthen governance practices.
- Collaborate with the central ESG team to support corporate ESG goals.
- Ensure compliance with local and national sustainability regulations (e.g., BREEAM, LEED).
- Act as the ESG lead, serving as a key contact for sustainability initiatives.
- Support leadership with ESG decision-making, offering actionable insights.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Engaging with supply partners and the need to create a OneTeam ethos, motivating and driving effectiveness with them to deliver the overall ESG goals of the building/client.
- Partner with property management, customers, and the central ESG team to integrate sustainable practices.
- Work with operational teams (e.g., security, energy, waste) to embed ESG principles in daily activities.
- Build strong client relationships, offering tailored ESG solutions and reporting.
- Collaborate with customers and client to encourage participation in ESG programs.
- Drive customer engagement through workshops and sustainability challenges.
ESG Reporting and Analytics:
- Lead ESG reporting for the building, providing updates to stakeholders, customers, and clients.
- Deliver annual and in-year analytics, identifying KPIs and areas for improvement.
- Track energy consumption, waste reduction, carbon footprint, and other sustainability metrics.
Compliance and Certification:
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and standards.
- Lead initiatives to achieve or maintain certifications (e.g., BREEAM, ISO 14001).
- Stay informed on London-specific sustainability initiatives (e.g., Mayor of London's targets).
Education and Training:
- Develop an educational programme for the building aligned with the goals of the building/client.
- Stay updated on ESG trends, legislation, and best practices in commercial real estate.
- Provide ESG training and awareness programs for staff and tenants.
- Lead sessions on energy efficiency, waste management, and social impact.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Participate in company-wide ESG projects, supporting broader initiatives.
- Lead or contribute to cross-functional projects like energy-saving programs or waste reduction schemes.
- Support customer engagement activities, encouraging sustainable practices.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Candidates will be required to demonstrate the following:
Essential:
- Proven experience managing sustainability or ESG programs, ideally in commercial real estate.
- Strong knowledge of environmental standards, legislation, and certifications (e.g., BREEAM, LEED, ISO 14001).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, engaging diverse stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset with experience in ESG reporting and performance monitoring.
- Passion for sustainability and inspiring others to embrace ESG initiatives.
Working Hours - 40 hours per week
Salary - £55k
